Message Notes Sunday, February 26th
Scripture:
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,
To God’s holy people in Colossae, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all God’s people— the faith and love that spring from the hope stored up for you in heaven and about which you have already heard in the true message of the gospel that has come to you. In the same way, the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God’s grace.
NOTES
We don’t OUTGROW Jesus, we GROW WITH Jesus.
Speed is the enemy of depth.
What you think about often, becomes what you care about. What you care about is what you chase.
Your inputs determine your outputs.
The Gospel message today is growing, it’s not shrinking and it’s bearing fruit.
6 Week Challenge
There are 4 chapters, 2000 words, and 95 verses in the letter to the Colossians. What would it look like to not only read, but also write out every single word in this letter? Studies have shown that when you put words to paper, it increases neural activity and it helps recall a greater amount of information.
Join us the next 41 days (starting Monday 2/26) in writing 3 verses a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks leading up to Easter.
2/26 Monday: Colossians 1:1-3 2/27 Tuesday: Colossians 1:4-6 2/28 Wednesday: Colossians 1:7-9 3/1 Thursday: Colossians 1:10-12 3/2 Friday: Colossians 1:13-15
As you read and write each day….
READ: As you read, write down the verse that sticks out most to you.
THINK: What is the context? What does this tell me about God? Are there any principles or commands?
PRAY: Take time to meditate on the passage and ask the Lord to speak to you.
APPLY: How can I apply this verse to my everyday life? How can I live differently based on what I read?
